Setting Goals

One of the most important things I’ve learned over the last few years is setting goals and sticking with them. It’s easy to get excited about a new prospect but it’s another thing to follow up and actually make it happen.

I recently had the chance to be around people that I looked up to when I was younger and it’s inspiring to hear their stories. Tom Green is the perfect example of sticking with something to make it happen. Starting with a cable access TV show to having his own show on MTV and starring in several movies it’s obvious that all the long hours of work and never giving up paid off.

The other thing I’ve noticed about setting goals is that if you’re going to talk to people about these things and get them excited then follow through.

I can’t even count the number of times I was head strong about things and then just never went through with them. If you’re going to set goals for yourself then do what you need to do to make them happen but it’s probably a good idea to keep them to yourself and then share the good news once you’ve started making progress.

Keep yourself motivated and then go for it. With social media it’s even easier to share your enthusiasm with the world so make sure you mean it. Truthfully I never knew how frustrating it was to the people closest to me until it was brought up. It hit me like a ton of bricks but once you’ve ‘false started’ more than a handful of times it’s got to get frustrating for the people that care for you. Imagine yourself spinning around in circles but expecting to end up somewhere else…that’s the kind of stuff that makes people crazy.

Stay strong, be realistic and dream big. Things are possible but you’re the only one that has the ability to make them happen.
